Efficient air conditioning and up-to-date electrics for Moncloa homes

Between Ciudad Universitaria and Parque del Oeste, we take care of the technical installations in spacious homes where the comfort shows, but the work doesn't.

Housing type in Moncloa

A benchmark residential district

Moncloa combines well-built apartments from the 1960s and 70s with more recent developments, set among tree-lined streets and homes with generous floor areas. You won't always find the four-metre ceilings of an Ensanche-era apartment here, but you will find solid construction quality, sturdy partition walls, and families who have lived in the same home for years and want to update it without giving anything up. Many of these homes still have original electrical and air-conditioning installations designed for a very different kind of domestic consumption. Any renovation here is aimed above all at efficiency and everyday comfort, carried out to a high standard but without the aesthetic restrictions of a listed building.

Climate control

Ducted air conditioning, one temperature per room

In homes with a living room, several bedrooms and a study, ducted air conditioning with Airzone zoning makes it possible to keep the children's bedroom cooler than the living room, or switch off entirely the zones not being used during the day, without losing a degree of comfort anywhere else in the house.

We design the duct run to sit within the false ceiling in the hallway and other transit areas, leaving the living room and bedrooms with discreet diffusers. The result is a home that's cool in summer and warm in winter, with electricity consumption well below that of several splits running independently.

Electrical

Enough power for a home with everything connected

Induction hob, oven, tumble dryer, two or three air-conditioning units: the sum of today's appliances often exceeds what the original installation in a Moncloa home was designed to handle. We check the contracted power, renew the consumer unit if needed, and process the corresponding electrical certificate (Certificado CIE).

We also take the opportunity to switch the lighting to LED and install basic smart-home features that let you programme scenes — reading light, dinner light, an all-off setting when you leave — from a single remote or app.

A common case in Moncloa

In Moncloa homes renovated piecemeal over the years, it's common to find sections of wiring from different eras coexisting on the same consumer unit. When a second air-conditioning unit is added, the system starts giving overload warnings. Before installing anything new, we check that the electrical base can take it.

Ventilation and air quality after sealing the home during renovation

Cause
When a Moncloa flat is renovated with double glazing and better insulation, the home stops breathing through the old gaps around doors and windows.
Effect
Without mechanical ventilation to replace that lost air exchange, condensation appears in cold corners and the air feels stuffy, especially in bedrooms.
Prevention
Include a controlled mechanical ventilation system in the renovation project from the moment sealing the openings is decided on.
ANNA's diagnosis
ANNA calculates the air-exchange rate needed based on the square metres and use of each room, and integrates the mechanical ventilation with the rest of the home's air conditioning.
